Fraxel® 1550

What is Fraxel® 1550?

Fraxel® 1550 is a non-invasive, non-ablative skin resurfacing procedure that improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. With its gentle application, the laser light is applied to only a fraction of your skin, rather than your entire skin surface. This process allows your skin to heal and regenerate more quickly into beautiful and radiant new skin cells. After minimal downtime, your result is brighter, youthful skin that has better skin tone and a minimized appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

With so many resurfacing technologies out there, you need to know how to tell them apart. The big difference with Fraxel® 1550 is that when you get it done at The Med Spot, you’ll benefit from the skill and experience of Dr. Michelle Reyes and her team.

How Does Fraxel 1550 Work?

Fraxel® 1550 uses a 1550 nanometer laser to resurface and rejuvenate your skin from the inside out. The Fraxel® device delivers and breaks up the laser beams into several individual points that are applied to your skin. Multiple microscopic areas of laser energy are applied to the skin as pigment and collagen are heated. These microscopic laser columns penetrate deeply into your skin, which expedites your body’s remodeling of collagen. At the same time, old epidermal pigmented cells are eliminated.

Since Fraxel® 1550 treats only a small area of skin at a time, the surrounding tissue remains intact and helps to promote rapid healing. Fraxel® 1550 stimulates the growth of healthy, tighter skin, displaying your skin anew from the inside out!

What Happens During Treatment With Fraxel® 1550?

On the day of your treatment, The Med Spot team will take pictures of your skin to track your improvement. The treatment area will be washed thoroughly. Dr. Michelle Reyes or a member of The Med Spot team will apply a numbing cream to the treatment area while you relax comfortably. Once the numbing cream has taken effect, the area will be cleansed and your eyes will be shielded. Dr. Michelle Reyes or a clinician on The Med Spot team will use a laser handpiece to gently glide over your skin, which delivers tiny amounts of energy over several passes. Throughout the treatment, a special device will deliver cooling air to the surface of your skin in the form of cryotherapy.

When the procedure is complete, your skin will be cooled with cold compresses. Cryotherapy will continue to be delivered with cooling air to help reduce the skin’s temperature. Immediately after treatment, your skin may appear red and feel warm, which will ease with the help of moisturizing. Any redness on the treatment area will improve over the first half of the recovery period and your skin may feel rough. Within 3-4 days, peeling will begin to reveal your new glowing skin. Ask us about our special healing balm with curative botanicals to soothe and provide a bioidentical protective moisturizer.

Do Fraxel® 1550 treatments hurt?

The numbing cream dulls most of the discomfort, but you may feel warmth or tiny pinpricks in the treatment area. When treatment begins, cool air will be circulated to the skin to provide additional comfort. Non-ablative treatment has very few side effects compared with more invasive, ablative procedures that also require more lengthy healing periods. Because of the initial redness and skin flakiness after receiving Fraxel® 1550, patients are advised to expect some downtime. In the first few days after Fraxel® treatment. some individuals choose to avoid social or professional events.

Are Fraxel® 1550 Treatments Safe?

As with any laser resurfacing procedure, there is a slight risk of infection. If you continue to have excessive redness on the treatment area and if there is any excessive pain or pus, please contact our office. You should avoid any direct sun exposure for at least 3 months after treatment, which will reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation (brown spots). When you go outside, you should wear a broad-spectrum physical sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and a wide-brimmed hat. Avoiding sun exposure will also prolong your results.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

According to clinical studies, the average effective treatment regimen of Fraxel® 1550 is 3 to 5 sessions, 3 to 4 weeks apart. During your consultation, Michelle Reyes or a member of The Med Spot team will discuss your skincare goals and advise you on the number of Fraxel® 1550 treatment sessions you’ll need to see results. During this time of healing and production of new collagen in your skin after your initial treatment, the results are both immediate and progressive.

What’s the difference between Fraxel® 1550 and Fraxel® 1927?

These lasers use different wavelengths to target slightly different skin issues. Fraxel® 1927 lifts away discolorations from hyperpigmentation, sun damage, pre-cancer spots, and dark spots with the 1927 wavelength. Fraxel® 1550 works to smooth your skin’s texture and elasticity. The Fraxel® 1550’s benefits include improvement to fine lines, wrinkles, pore size, as well as acne scarring. In your consultation with Dr. Michelle Reyes or a member of The Med Spot team, you will discuss which Fraxel® treatment is most suitable for you.

Why Is Fraxel® 1550 Better Than the Alternatives?

Fraxel® 1550 can more effectively target and restructure skin cells than other superficial cosmetic treatments such as microdermabrasion or chemical peels. Fraxel® 1550 also helps to improve the appearance of large pores and fine lines and can even help treat pre-cancerous skin growths.

The laser in Fraxel® 1550 resurfaces your skin without taking off layers of your skin. Fraxel 1550 targets deeper wrinkles, scars from acne or other kinds of accidents, and improves your skin’s texture. It also promotes your skin’s natural collagen production for long-lasting results that improve over time.

Who Should Ask for Fraxel® 1550?

Fraxel® 1550 treatments are suitable for both men and women seeking to improve the tone, texture, and radiance of their skin. Individuals seeking treatments without dramatic commitment or a long recovery enjoy seeing the changes in their skin after Fraxel® 1550 treatments. If you’re looking to improve the appearance of aging, sun damage, or scars, Fraxel®1550 may be the treatment for you!

How Can Fraxel® 1550 Improve my Life?

Fraxel® 1550 stands out above the rest for improving the appearance of your skin and giving you a renewed sense of confidence. The results provided by Fraxel® 1550 can take years off your appearance by erasing or minimizing the sun damage, acne scarring, and other minor imperfections in your skin and providing you with dewy skin that appears youthful.
