Stretch Marks

Treatments for Stretch Marks

Stretch marks (or striae distensiae) are caused by rapid weight gain, growth, or pregnancy. The skin stretches too rapidly to readapt and remodel to amount of change it experiences. Now, with new technologies and techniques we are able to stimulate the skin safely to encourage natural healing of the stretched skin.

Ematrix Sublative ™

The Ematrix Sublative ™ is very useful for any type skin that is thin from acute stretching. This energy based device sends micro pulses of energy to the skin, stimulating the skin to produce new healthy, skin cells, collagen, and other tissues. This transfer of energy causes the body to now recognize the stretch marks and small wounds. As a result, the stretch marks vanish. This treatment also tightens and thickens the skin while not injuring the skin whatsoever.

Stretch Mark Removal with Ematrix Sublative ™
We begin the procedure by applying topical numbing cream to the skin. This is the only anesthesia required. We then wave the small wand that emits electric currents over the skin. The energy relayed is applied in a grid like pattern to ensure that there is not too much heat to the tissue and nothing is damaged. Once we have applied the energy to all the affected areas, we reduce the superficial heat of the top layer of dermis with a cooling gel so that only the deeper levels of the tissues are affected. The procedure is simple, fast, and requires no cutting.

We suggest that a patient also receives treatments of PRP (platelet rich plasma) or harvested donated placenta to improve tissue healing and speed the recovery.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Although the first treatment can provide some improvement, the patient will need a series of treatments to achieve best results. We suggest the patient receives 5 treatments, each being spaced 1 month apart. People with new, fresh stretch marks are the best candidates for this procedure, so it is recommended that people with these issues are treated as soon as possible.

Recovery from the Ematrix Sublative ™
After the procedure, the patient will only need about 1 week of recovery with protective healing ointments. Patients should not swim or stay in the sun while recovering. Besides the sun and swimming , the patient can return to regular daily immediately.

Microneedling with the MDPen ™ for Stretchmarks

This micro needling procedure pokes microscopic holes to create channels to allow topical products to reach deep in the tissue. These products can provide nutrients, hyaluronic acid, and/or topical growth factors. Along with these products we use the patient’s own platelets (PRP), or harvested growth factors to promote and speed healing and improve results.

How the Procedure Works
Microneedling with PRP is a 4 step process. First the patient will be numbed with a topical anesthesia. During the 40 to 60 minutes it takes for the anesthesia to take full effect, the patient will have his or her blood drawn. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge to isolate the platelets from the red and white blood cells. From this process, we are able to distill the platelets and create the PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) that is administered in the areas of need.

The PRP is injected into the channels the micro needling creates. The microscopic holes signal the body to heal these areas. The addition of the PRP causes these targeted areas to heal at significantly faster rates.

After the Procedure and Recovery from Microneedling
The entire procedure, including the harvesting of the blood, the extraction of the platelets, and application of the PRP into the skin, takes between 20-30 minutes. The treatment takes effect almost immediately, although most patients experience slight swelling and redness. The effects and benefits of a singl treatment can last up to 2 years.
