Fraxel® 1927

What is Fraxel® 1927?

Fraxel® 1927 is the first non-ablative fractional skin resurfacing treatment. In just one treatment, Fraxel® 1927 targets pigment, improves fine texture, and restores glow. This non-invasive technology is used to improve the appearance of fine lines, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and much more. With Fraxel® 1927, you can receive a global rejuvenation, meaning you can have larger areas covered. Fraxel® 1927 treatments are great for the face, neck, chest, arms, legs, and back!

With so many resurfacing technologies out there, you need to know how to tell them apart. The big difference with Fraxel® 1927 is that when you get it done at The Med Spot, you’ll benefit from the skill and experience of Dr. Michelle Reyes and her team.

How Does Fraxel® 1927 Work?

Fraxel® 1927 is a non-ablative resurfacing procedure, which means that Fraxel® 1927 does not cut or remove your skin. Using a thulium laser that emits laser light at a wavelength of 1927 nanometers, multiple microscopic areas of laser energy are applied to the skin as pigment and collagen are heated. These microscopic laser columns penetrate deeply into your skin, which expedites your body’s remodeling of collagen. At the same time, old epidermal pigmented cells are eliminated. Since Fraxel® 1927 treats only a small area of skin at a time, the surrounding tissue remains intact and helps to promote rapid healing. Fraxel® 1927 stimulates the growth of new, tighter skin, displaying your skin anew from the inside out!

What Happens During Treatment With Fraxel® 1927?

On the day of your treatment, The Med Spot team will take pictures of your skin to track your improvement. The treatment area will be prepared thoroughly for treatment. Dr. Michelle Reyes or a member of The Med Spot team will apply a numbing cream to the treatment area while you relax comfortably. Once the numbing cream has taken effect, the treatment area will be cleansed and your eyes will be shielded. Dr. Michelle Reyes will use a laser handpiece to gently glide over your skin, which delivers tiny amounts of energy over several passes.

When the procedure is complete, your skin will be cooled. Immediately after treatment, your skin may appear red and feel warm, which will ease with the help of special moisturizing. Redness from the treatment area will improve over the first half of the recovery period and your skin may feel rough. Within 3-4 days, small flaking and sloughing of old skin will occur and begin to reveal your new healthy glowing skin.

Do Fraxel® 1927 treatments hurt?

The numbing cream dulls most of the discomfort, but you may feel warmth or tiny pinpricks in the treatment area. When treatment begins, cool air will be circulated to the skin to provide additional comfort. Non-ablative treatment has very few side effects compared with more invasive ablative procedures which also require more lengthy healing periods. Because of the initial redness and skin flakiness after receiving Fraxel® 1927, patients are advised to expect some downtime and perhaps avoid social or professional events in the first few days after treatment.

Are Fraxel® 1927 Treatments Safe?

As with any laser resurfacing procedure, there is a slight risk of infection. If you continue to have excessive redness on the treatment area and if there is any pain or pus, please contact our office. You should avoid any direct sun exposure for at least 3 months after treatment, which will reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation (brown spots). When you go outside, you should wear a broad-spectrum physical sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and a wide-brimmed hat. Avoiding sun exposure will also prolong your results. It is important to reapply sunscreen every two hours while enjoying outdoor activities.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

According to clinical studies, the average effective treatment regimen of Fraxel® 1927 is 3 to 5 sessions, 2 to 4 weeks apart. During your consultation, Michelle Reyes or a member of The Med Spot team will discuss your skincare goals and advise you on the number of Fraxel® 1927 treatment sessions you’ll need to see results. During this time of healing and production of new collagen in your skin after your initial treatment, the results are both immediate and progressive.

What’s the difference between Fraxel® 1927 and Fraxel® 1550?

These lasers use different wavelengths to target slightly different skin issues. Fraxel® 1927 lifts away discolorations from hyperpigmentation, sun damage, pre-cancer spots, and dark spots) with the Fraxel® 1927 wavelength. Fraxel®1550 works to smooth your skin’s texture, including fine lines and wrinkles as well as scarring, with its Fraxel® 1550 wavelength. In your consultation with Dr. Michelle Reyes or a member of The Med Spot team, you will discuss which Fraxel treatment is most suitable for you.

Why Is Fraxel® 1927 Better Than the Alternatives?

Fraxel® 1927 is a noninvasive resurfacing laser treatment that is designed to virtually erase hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and more. Fraxel® lasers penetrate the skin more deeply than microneedling, so depending on the extent of the pigmentation issues you’d like to correct, Fraxel® 1927 can deliver more dramatic results—all while remaining non-invasive. No incisions or cutting.

Who Should Ask for Fraxel® 1927?

Fraxel® 1927 treatments are suitable for both men and women seeking to improve the tone, texture, and radiance of their skin without dramatic commitment and changes or a long recovery. If you’re looking to improve the appearance of aging, sun damage, or skin texture, Fraxel® 1927 may be the treatment for you!

How Can Fraxel® 1927 Improve my Life?

There is simply nothing else like it for improving the appearance of your skin and giving you a renewed sense of confidence. The results provided by Fraxel® 1927 can take years off your appearance by erasing or minimizing the sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and discoloration in your skin and revealing your dewy, youthful skin glow.
